- About Me
- I am a legal historian based at the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto. I work on the British empire, with particular interests in criminal law, responsibility, medical jurisprudence, and psychiatry. My book, Unsound Empire: Madness and Civilization in British Imperial Law (under contract with Yale University Press), explores these themes through case narratives drawn from colonial India, Australia, Canada and England. Other research projects consider arson and police violence in the 19th c British world.
